August 20-22, Washington, D.C., Metro will upgrade its track, platforms and bridges on the Red, Blue and Yellow lines to improve reliability and service. As a result of this crucial work, which is critical to maintain the railroad in a state of good repair, riders can expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

Red Line Platform Rehabilitation. Metrorail customers traveling between the Shady Grove and Twinbrook Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will repair the deteriorated platform at the Rockville Metrorail station to return it to a state of good repair. Trains will share one track between these locations the entire weekend.

Red Line Bridge Maintenance.

Metrorail customers traveling between the New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail stations should add at least 20 minutes to their travel time because Metro will conduct necessary maintenance on a portion of elevated tracks outside the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail station. Trains will share one track between these locations the entire weekend.

Blue and Yellow Line Track Maintenance.

Metrorail customers traveling between the Braddock Road and Van Dorn Metrorail stations on the Blue Line and between the Braddock Road and Huntington Metrorail stations on the Yellow Line should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will replace old crossties and weld rail in that area. Trains will share one track between these locations the entire weekend.

On Saturday, August 21, and Sunday, August 22, Blue Line trains will be rerouted to operate between the Largo Town Center and Huntington Metrorail stations.
