Part of the construction that HMM is managing is removal of a portion of Grand Central Terminal's Monumental Window on the southwest corner of the building. Removal of the window will allow for worker access and a path to supply material to the project site. This was anticipated by MNR, which received early approval of this concept from the State Historic Preservation Office in New York. The window is to be carefully removed, labeled, documented, and stored off site. It is to be re-installed at the end of the project.
HMM has undertaken a number of other major projects for MNR at Grand Central Terminal. The most recent involved upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems, which included emergency lighting, public address, stairwell pressurization, control center ventilation, and transformer house upgrades. |
