Progress Rail Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., has announced its acquisition of C&S Signaling LLC, a signaling business serving the railroad industry, based in Crestwood, Kentucky. The acquisition strengthens Progress Rail's position in grade-crossing warning system design, material management and signal installation and maintenance. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
"Progress Rail has made significant strides in recent years to expand the products and services offered through our Signal Division," said Dave Roeder, senior vice president of Engineering and Track Services at Progress Rail. "We are proud to build upon our strong supplier and service base even further with the addition of C&S Signaling, which has a proven customer following." As an added benefit to Progress Rail's sustainable business operations, C&S has the ability to supply new, used or reconditioned components of its complete crossing warning system or provide the system in its entirety, depending on customer needs. "C&S Signaling takes pride in providing high-quality, reliable railroad signaling services and looks forward to being part of the Progress Rail Services team," said former co-owners Garry Caudill and Roy Smith, who will remain at the Kentucky location as National Sales Manager and General Manager, respectively. The company will operate under Progress Rail's Signal Division, part of the Engineering and Track Services group. The Signal Division currently includes facilities dedicated to signal manufacturing, installation and maintenance, engineering and software programming and Progress Rail's Inspection and Information Systems group. C&S' headquarters will remain in Crestwood, Kentucky. |
