RailComm to provide remote control derails at Amtrak Seattle

Written by Jenifer Nunez, assistant editor

RailComm has been selected to provide a wireless remote control derail system for Amtrak's facility in Seattle, Wash. The power derails will be remotely controlled by two strategically located control panels. The system will also include two workstations that will allow managers to see the state of the facility at any given time.

RailComm’s 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum RADiANT data radios will be used to establish wireless communications networks to link the derail and control panel locations.

Upon activation, the company says the tracks will be safely and immediately protected by the remote control of the appropriate derail device with associated blue strobe light warning indication.
