Reuters is reporting that as the strike against Canadian National by the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) moves into its fourth day, talks are continuing, but the union says that “no substantive progress” has been achieved. The strike includes approximately 3,200 union members. The union represents yard workers, conductors and trainmen.

The strike is starting to have ripple effects in the economy. The pace of manufacturing activity has slowed, and there is fear that a shortage of heating oil may result from the strike.

Many are looking to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to get involved and help resolve the situation.
