Canadian Pacific loaded crude oil train derails – updated 12.10.19 @ 2 p.m. ET

At approximately midnight local time (Sunday evening/Monday morning), a Canadian Pacific train hauling crude [oil] derailed west of Guernsey, Saskatchewan, according to CP spokesperson, Andy Cummings.
Yesterday morning, RT&S reported on the Canadian Pacific crude oil train derailment. We received an updated statement from CP at 2 p.m. ET today, which is presented below.
At approximately midnight local time on Dec. 9, 34 cars of a CP train hauling crude derailed west of Guernsey, Saskatchewan.
There were no injuries and no evacuations. Fires at the site are now contained, and CP’s HazMat team continues to reduce and extinguish what fires remain. The team is working closely with local firefighters. Highway 16 remains closed due to the derailment.
CP re-opened the rail line this morning once all track repairs and safety inspections were complete.
Crews are working diligently to ensure the area is cleaned up and restored.
An investigation into the cause of the derailment is ongoing.
