CP suffers mainline derailment yesterday; operations restored this morning

A CP freight train derailed yesterday in Plymouth, Minn., northwest of Minneapolis.

According to a statement from CP, at approximately 12:45 p.m. local time on March 7, a train derailed in Plymouth at Northwest Boulevard near Schmidt Lake Road, and 22 cars left the rails.

The derailed cars were carrying lumber, asphalt and sulphur. There were no leaks, and no injuries to the crew.

CP officials are on scene and are working closely with local police and fire in responding to this incident.

Following careful checks, CP restored train operations this morning.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
