NS & CSX trains collide in Augusta, Ga.
WRDW and WAGT News reported that a Norfolk Southern locomotive collided with a CSX train in Augusta, Ga.
The CSX train suffered a derailment of 17 intermodal cars carrying 14 containers. The accident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. yesterday, and CSX reports that there were no crew injuries and no cars carrying hazardous materials were involved in the derailment. The CSX train was made up of intermodal cars, 42 of which were loaded and 13 empties.
Norfolk Southern did report that their crew suffered some non-life threatening injuries, and sought medical care for them.
Both railroads are investigating the accident.
