Norfolk Southern returning to normal operations in New Orleans

Norfolk Southern (nscorp.com) announced that it is returning to normal operations in the New Orleans area. Traffic headed to or through New Orleans will be delayed 24 to 48 hours. Norfolk Southern continues to work with interline partners to detour interchange traffic over alternate gateways where possible to minimize the impact.

According to the Weather Channel website, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said Sunday that the city was “beyond lucky” in that the amount of rainfall that hit the city was significantly less than earlier predictions of a deluge that could overwhelm the city’s pumping systems.
