Business and railcars are now moving at the new Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub (SGIH) in Effingham County, Ga.

A&R Logistics’ new global headquarters is up and running, as is the park’s new rail infrastructure that provides multimodal export capability. Shipments are being received from CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern.

OmniTRAX is developing the SGIH. OmniTRAX partnered with the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority. The park is comprised of 2,600 acres known as the Research Forest tract in unincorporated Effingham County.

“Savannah Gateway unlocks unparalleled multimodal logistics connectivity through rail, truck and ship to markets throughout the Southeast, North America and the world,” OmniTRAX said in a statement.

The park is located 12 miles from the Port of Savannah, which is the third largest port in the U.S., and will eventually have 20 million sq ft of space.

The railroad delivers small plastic pellets to A&R Logistics, which then repackages them and loads them on trucks for shipment.
