U.S. railroad employment continues to nosedive

FreightWaves is reporting that railroad employment in the United States, which has been falling continuously during the past year, continues to nosedive. January 2020 saw a 12.4 percent decrease in employment compared to January 2019. January 2019 saw 146,556 people employed by U.S, railroads, while January 2020 saw 128,311.

The train and engine group fell 17.3 percent from January 2019 to January 2020. January 2019 saw 62,545 employees in T&E service, while January 2020 saw 51,709.
