Robert Tuttle, PE, is the new office manager of Urban Engineers’ Warrendale, Pa., location.

The firm promoted Tuttle, who previously served as a project manager, to the new role. He will continue managing the firm’s construction management freight efforts for private rail clients.

“Rob is a proven talent in the industry who has shown a keen ability to thrive in dynamic work environments,” said Kenneth R. Fulmer, PE, Urban Engineers’ president and CEO. “He has been an excellent construction manager and a strong advocate for his clients, making him an exceptional selection to run our western Pennsylvania office.”

Tuttle provides project and construction management for various rail and transit projects. His work includes oversight of new, expanded and renovated rail maintenance shops, as well as track replacement and installation, in addition to employee welfare and storage facilities, Urban Engineers said.

The firm said Tuttle’s skills include change order evaluation, payment application evaluation, schedule analysis, and construction inspection. He also coordinates among the various contractors, designers and owner personnel.

Additionally, the firm notes that Tuttle has managed and inspected welded rail installation, insulation joint installation, tie replacement, electrical work, steel erection, auger cast concrete piles, crane erection and MEP and fire protection work.

An alumnus of Drexel University, Tuttle earned his degree in civil engineering and architectural engineering. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.

As a project manager, he has experience completing work managing the construction of a 44,000-square-foot locomotive maintenance building while concurrently overseeing construction of a 12,000-square-foot welfare and material storage facility, the firm explained.

“His ability to communicate and resolve project issues before they arise has positioned him as a trusted leader among the various contractors, designers, and clients,” Urban Engineers said.

In recent months, the firm also announced the hiring of Peter Fedun, PE, as Urban Engineers’ new deputy practice leader for rail and transit.
