A subsidiary of RailWorks Corp. will build build rail infrastructure at a new storage and handling yard in Gregory, Texas.

RailWorks Track Systems, Inc. signed a deal to construct more than 134,000 track feet at a 76-acre site where Savage Gulf Rail LLC is building a rail storage and handling yard at a plastics manufacturing facility.

“Our selection for this important project underscores our expertise in these types of complex and long-term projects. The Gulf region is an important one for us as a corporation, and we’re looking forward to kicking off this key project,” Kevin Riddett, RailWorks president and CEO, said in a written statement.

Track construction work is slated to begin this summer and be completed in 2021, with a yard in-service date later that year.

Once complete, the railyard will be able to handle/store up to 1,100 railcars and will include arrival and departure tracks for Union Pacific access. The site will also include a hydrocarbon railcar storage yard, railcar wash facility, loading facility and railcar maintenance facility.

Privately held RailWorks provides track and transit systems construction and maintenance services throughout the United States and Canada. RailWorks company brands include L.K. Comstock Inc., PNR RailWorks, HSQ Technology, and NARSTCO.

Savage Gulf Rail LLC, created in October 2018, is controlled by Savage, a collection of companies that provide transportation, materials handling, industrial services and logistics services.
