Everything is for sale. Well, not everything, but certain roads can be bought.

East County Road 150 South in Johnson County, Ind., will close permanently after Louisville and Indiana Railroad paid Johnson County $1 million to take over the street which intersects with the rail line. Louisville and Indiana wants to construct railroad siding at the crossing of County Road 150 South. Johnson County might use the money to design a bypass route in the same area that would provide access to nearby I-65.

The closure also has to do with safety. According to Johnson County, more trains are zipping through at higher speeds and officials have been trying to improve safety at all crossings and also want to prevent trains from stopping and blocking traffic.

Luke Mastin, Johnson County Highway Department director, also says the sidings should provide another layer of safety.
