Ronnie Hakim, national transit and rail market sector leader for HNTB Corporation, recently was elected chair of the board for the Coalition of the Northeast Corridor.

Hakim moves into the Coalition leadership role previously held by former HNTB project director, Amit Bose. Last month, Bose was named deputy administrator for the Federal Railroad Administration.

“I’m looking forward to serving as chair of the CNEC. This Coalition continues to serve a vital role in informing investments on the NEC,” said Hakim. “I join in wishing outgoing chair Amit Bose success in his leadership at the FRA.”

Hakim currently serves as HNTB’s national transit and rail market sector leader responsible for collaborating with leadership nationwide on strategic planning and implementation, industry representation, business development, service delivery, and client collaboration and satisfaction.

Prior to joining HNTB, Hakim served as managing director of the New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where she was responsible for leading more than 70,000 employees in five operating agencies, overseeing transit systems that carry nine million riders each day.

Hakim’s executive leadership experience also includes serving as president of MTA New York City Transit, executive director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, executive director of New Jersey Transit, and executive vice president and general counsel MTA Capital Construction.

CNEC is the business community’s voice for strengthening rail infrastructure in order to reduce congestion, create jobs and grow the economy. It represents diverse stakeholders who rely on the corridor to conduct commerce, access customers and transport employees.
