Sound Transit, the transit agency for the Seattle, Wash. metropolitan area, offers bus, commuter rail and light rail service. The commuter rail service essentially runs from Tacoma, through Seattle and north to Everett.

On Saturday, heavy rains caused a mudslide to occur on the portion of the commuter rail line called Sounder North. This line operates from downtown Seattle north to Edmonds, Mukeltio, and Everett. The mudslide occurred along the line from Edmonds to Mukelito which, in effect, shut down the entire Sounder North line from King Street Station to Everett.

According to a Sound Transit news release, Sounder North line service has been canceled for Monday, Jan. 4 through Wednesday, Jan. 6. Sound Transit adds that “if there are no other events,” the agency expects to resume service on the line on Thursday, Jan. 7.

Sound Transit advises riders to utilize bus service between Edmonds, Mukelito and Everett.
