Watch: Drone footage of girder placement on high-speed rail project

Crews continue to place girders at Avenue 88 in California.

A drone along Avenue 88 in Tulare County, Calif., shows crews placing 19 of the 20 girders needed to form the superstructure of the grade separation. The shortest girders were nearly 59 ft long and weighed nearly 66,000 lb, while the longest girders were about 142 ft long and weighed nearly 157,000 lb. When complete, the Avenue 88 grade separation will span approximately 485 ft long and will carry traffic over S.R. 43, BNSF freight lines, and high-speed rail lines.
