Canadian National has announced it will make a strong rail infrastructure investment in British Columbia for the remainder of 2021.

The $324.94 million investment includes the addition of rail tracks so the Class 1 can deal with growing traffic. The move is a positive sign after the coronavirus pandemic slammed rail traffic during the first quarter of 2020. Canadian National still expects a tough second quarter for its energy unit.

CN will build approximately 3.5 miles of double track between Vancouver and Edmonton, replace more than 100 miles of rail and will install over 209,000 new railroad ties.
