Look and watch: Sound Transit’s Bellevue tunnel now complete

Construction on the tunnel from Bellevue to Seattle was recently completed.

Crews just finished the Sound Transit tunnel that runs under downtown Bellevue, and local media was able to tour the tube.

The tunnel is part of the East Link light-rail extension that is scheduled to open in 2023. The line will have 10 stations, and trips from Bellevue to Seattle will take just 20 minutes.

Atkinson Construction cranked up mining operations at the tunnel site in 2017 and finished excavating five months ahead of schedule. Stacy and Witbeck/Atkinson are currently handling rail installation in the tunnel.
