Watco Companies expands Decatur & Eastern Illinois Railroad

On its Twitter page Watco Companies is announcing the expansion of the short line’s Decatur & Eastern Illinois Railroad behind the purchase of the Eastern Illinois Railroad from Archer Daniels Midland.
Decatur & Eastern Illinois now has 56 more miles of track, and the new line serves two grain customers, ADM and Total Grain Marketing. There also is the potential for new business.
“There are some good opportunities for growth on this line,” said Watco’s Doug Story. “The infrastructure is in good shape and the customers have the advantage of connecting to different Class 1 carriers on the north and south ends of the line.”
