Who wouldn’t want more gold? California state legislator Chris Holden’s gold, however, comes in the form of a light rail line.

Holden is introducing a measure that would extend the LA Metro Gold Line all the way to the Ontario International Airport. The current Gold Line extension sits and ends in San Bernardino County and will feature stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont, and Montclair. Montclair, the planned final stop, is six miles from the Ontario Airport, viewed by many as a key economic booster for three counties including parts of Los Angeles County. AB 2011 would form the West San Bernardino County Rail Construction Authority that would be in charge of designing and constructing the lengthening to the airport.

Holden also wants LA Metro to reach the Hollywood Burbank Airport, and has submitted a budget request for a feasibility study to California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Holden chairs the Select Committee on Regional Transportation Solutions, and will hold a hearing at Ontario City Hall on Jan. 31. Part of the meeting will cover the economic and environmental benefits of multimodal and interregional connections to California airports, particularly Burbank and Ontario.
