WASHINGTON – As Sound Transit adds a station to its Lynnwood Link Extension, the NE 130th St Infill Station Design reaches final approval with construction starting this Fall.

Before the electrification of the Lynnwood Link Extension overhead traction power, the focus of construction is the concrete platform and canopy structural steel at NE 130th St Infill Station. Since approving the delivery of the NE 130th St Infill Station, construction on the platform canopy and elevator shaft structure is scheduled to be completed late this Summer. Then, the construction is to be under another contractor to be completed. The last stage of construction is set to begin in October with a final contract dependent upon the Sound Transit Board’s Q2 and Q3. The contract detailing the improvements of the station finishes and other plaza and roadway improvements came this past Spring. Utilizing color, landscaping, and seating, the design ties in surrounding community’s desire for modernity and use of natural resources. More can be found on their design renderings here.

With construction of the station scheduled to be completed in two years, the NE 130th St Infill Station is slated to open in Q2 2026. Sound Transit anticipates more information will be announced after the addition of a new contractor.
