Rail bridge construction begins on June 28.

Beginning the night of June 28 Brightline will complete a key connection in expanding high-speed rail in the state of Florida when installation begins on a rail bridge over I-95 in Brevard County.

The bridge, spanning 573 ft and located along the corridor between Cocoa and Orlando International Airport, will mark the first time Brightline constructs a bridge over an interstate.

The bridge will be constructed in four spans requiring overnight detours of S.R. 528 and I-95 ramps and the southbound and northbound lanes of I-95. Bridge work begins June 28 at 10 p.m. and is expected to be completed in late July.

Brightline will use a combination of four different cranes, ranging in size from 275- to 800-ton lifting capacity, to lift the 24 steel beams. The heaviest of the beams weigh in at 146,000 lb, equivalent to two fully loaded tractor trailers.
