Watch: Track installation at Eglinton Crosstown project
Written by RT&S StaffWorkers continue to get the job done at the Eglinton Crosstown light-rail transit site.
At Eglinton Station, work on caissons, which support the working TTC tunnel, took place a while back and work has shifted to the next step, which can be seen below in a video.
The caissons that were used to support tunnel underpinning previously stood directly over the track bed. With the pouring of the upper concourse, the caissons were no longer needed and many have been removed so workers can install track at the platform level.
About 98% of the rail on the Eglinton Crosstown project has been installed. The final leg sits between Eglinton and Avenue stations.
