BLET and SEPTA agree on new contract

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has ratified a new contract with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) that covers health care benefits, pay, and work rules for the next four years.

The contract includes a series of pay raises, starting with a 2.0 percent increase after ratification, another 2 percent in 2020, 3 percent in 2021, and 3.5 percent in 2022.  Additional hourly pay is earned when running trains with Positive Train Control (PTC).

Those who work on Christmas Day will be paid time and one-half for a minimum of eight hours, and those who have a good attendance records can receive extra paid time off every six months.

The new contract also provides compensation for members for their time pursuing legal action against against criminals who assaulted or perpetrated any criminal activity against them.
