Engineering and architecture firm TKDA has appointed Eric Lechowicz as group manager for the firm’s rail architecture team based in its Chicago office.

Lechowicz brings more than two decades of experience with planning, designing and managing rail-related and other projects. TKDA said he has worked with BNSF Railway Co., Norfolk Southern Railway and Union Pacific Railroad as his key rail clients.

Lechowicz also served as the project architect for BNSF’s modernization program of the Argentine Yard locomotive maintenance and inspection terminal. According to TKDA, he managed the design, bidding and construction of UP’s modernization and expansion of the Brooklyn Yard intermodal facility in Portland, Oregon, in addition to designing NS’ maintenance and crew buildings in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

TKDA said Lechowicz is a registered architect and an alumnus of the University of Illinois, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies. He also has several certifications in construction management and contractor safety.

“Eric works extremely well with our valued rail clients,” said Andy Wagstrom, vice president of TKDA’s Rail Division. “We are pleased to have him step up and lead our Chicago Rail Architecture team.”

TKDA is a full-service engineering, architecture and planning firm with a team of nearly 300 employee-owners, according to the firm’s website.
