FRA Announces $900,000 in New Planning and Development Grants for Intercity Passenger Rail Services

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) today announced that it has awarded $900,000 to three entities through the Interstate Rail Compacts (IRC) Grant Program.

LOSSAN Rail Corridor Awarded $53 Million

OCEANSIDE, Calif. –– The continuing problems of geologic stability and shifting track along the LOSSAN Corridor in southern California are drawing more attention to this area. While this story focuses on a bridge replacement, the new bridge replaces one that is 108 years old and is subject to washout.

California State Senate Requests Action on Surf Line

SACRAMENTO –– Seven California state senators have written a letter to the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) requesting coordinated action to address the continuing problems of erosion and mudslides that have disrupted traffic on the the Surf Line route for many months.

Capitol Corridor Awarded $42.51 Million from the Federal Railroad Administration

Oakland, Calif. – The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) announced it has awarded $42.51 million to the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program, to complete Phase 1 of its Sacramento to Roseville Third Track Project (SR3T). Once completed, two additional roundtrips will be added between Sacramento and Roseville.
