CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MBTA held a joint development forum about transforming the Alewife Complex into a public transit and mixed-use development that includes a Red Line Station, a 2,733-space parking garage, and other rail facilities.
TORONTO – The city of Toronto and Metrolinx have not been able to agree on who will pay for a proposed connection from Scarborough subway at Kennedy Station to the Eglinton East light rail transit line.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Amtrak is investing $260 million in infrastructure improvements along the Northeast Corridor during the summer.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Amtrak’s Harrisburg Line Track Renewal project moves to phase four.
PITTSBURGH – Beginning spring 2025, Pittsburg Regional Transit plans to close Mount Washington Transit Tunnel for five months to allow for rehabilitation.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The VTA continues work on its light rail system to bring it to a state of good repair.
HONOLULU – Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit (HART) plans to award a contract to build the elevated rail line through Honolulu’s city center in August.
DALLAS – DART has finished repairing the overhead catenary system after a major accident incurred damage to the system on July 21, 2024.
DENVER – RTD continues rail repairs on its E, H, and R lines. On the E and R lines, it has removed southbound speed restrictions between Orchard and Arapahoe at Village Center stations.
SAN FRANCISCO – Crews will work on replacing track switches in Oakland during the weekend of August 17th and 18th.
SACRAMENTO – SacRT celebrated the beginning of construction on the Watt/I-80 Transit Center Improvement Project.
BOSTON – The MBTA announces its Red Line Braintree branch service will be suspended for 24 days to allow for improvements.
PERRYVILLE, Md. – Work on Amtrak’s $2.7 billion Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project on the Northeast Corridor in Maryland has begun with pre-construction work that includes removal of remnant bridge piers from the Susquehanna River and utility upgrades in the town of Perryville, Md.. This work sets the stage for start of actual bridge construction later next year.
BOSTON – The MBTA announced service changes on several lines so it can continue its work in maintaining track infrastructure across its system.
BALTIMORE – Amtrak on July 18 unveiled new renderings of the future West Baltimore MARC Station that will be built as part of the Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program.
