MBTA’s Ashland Station Receives $2.5M In Improvements

On its Framingham/Worcester Line, MBTA’s Ashland station will see improvements and repairs. The project work includes restoration of the pedestrian overpass, upgrading lighting, installing digital signage, repairing the accessible platform, and resurfacing and painting the existing platform. To allow for these improvements, MBTA will close its Ashland Station from August 26th through the fall. No exact reopening date has been released as of reporting.
During the closure, MBTA will provide shuttle buses to take riders from Ashland Station to Framingham Station.
According to Phillip Eng, MBTA’s General Manager and CEO, the MBTA is “investing in needed maintenance of our facilities as we work on the stations’ pedestrian overpass, walkways, and platforms while also improving the customer experience with better lighting, new digital signs, and more.”
Michael D. Herbert, Ashland’s Town Manager, stated his “delight” at the improvements and that the “pivotal upgrade represents the culmination of sustained advocacy by the Select Board, our legislative delegation, and myself.”
