Sound Transit Announces Six-Week Period of Link 1 Line Disruptions for Track Maintenance

SEATTLE – Starting May 12th, Sound Transit will have a six-week period of service disruptions to its Link 1 light rail service.
During these disruptions, crews will work to connect the line to future extensions as well as take the time to complete any necessary maintenance. What follows is a list of upcoming service disruptions:
There will be limited service between SeaTac/Airport and Angle Lake stations. The longest disruption, from May 12th through June 22nd, will have crews working to connect the existing 1 Line to the Federal Way Link Extension. In addition, Sound Transit will be able to store additional light rail vehicles south of Angle Lake station. During this disruption, Sound Transit says “a separate train will run between SeaTac/Airport and Angle Lake stations every 16-20 minutes.” Additional information for southbound and northbound passengers on this train can be found here.
Between Stadium and SeaTac/Airport stations on June 1st and 2nd, crews will repair the platform at Columbia City Station. One platform in each direction will be closed each day, so trains will be single tracking. Sound Transit states “trains will run every 10 minutes between Northgate and Stadium stations and every 20 minutes between Stadium and SeaTac/Airport stations.”
On June 21st, downtown Seattle stations will close starting at 10 p.m. and last through June 23rd. This is so crews can complete tie-in work for the Eastlink extension. Every 15 minutes, trains will run between Northgate and Capitol Hill stations as well as between SODO and SeaTac/Airport stations.
In order for crews to replace rail, trains will run every 20 minutes beginning at 11 p.m. on Tuesday nights from May 14th to June 25th.
