NYMTA, Google Public Sector Announce Preventive Track Maintenance Pilot Program

NEW YORK CITY – The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) on Feb. 27 announced a pilot program in partnership with Google Public Sector, “building on the success of its proven TrackInspect prototype, to proactively detect potential track defects before they escalate into operational issues that disrupt service to customers.”

Cordel Expands LiDAR Contract With G&W

U.K. – Cordel Group PLC (Cordel), the U.K.-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform for transport corridor analytics, on Feb. 24 announced a contract expansion with Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W), which includes an increase from the July 10, 2024, original contract’s 900 track miles to 2,000 miles, as well as the addition of a second Cordel Rugged LiDAR capture system for G&W’s American Regional railroads.

Maryland DOT MTA Testing CBTC System Oct. 4th-7th

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) announced that its Metro Subway stations will be closed from October 4th to October 7th at 4:00 a.m. to allow for testing of a new Communications Based Train Control system (CBTC).
