April 2024 issue of RT&S Now Online

ATLANTA –– The April issue of RT&S is now on line.

Our cover story for this month is our “10 Under 40,” showcasing ten outstanding young rail engineers who are under 40 years old. We have ten honorees and three runners-up who are becoming skilled practitioners and leaders in this demanding and dynamic field. The honorees come from a variety of organizations and were all nominated by their peers for this honor. Congratulations to the winners!

A new feature this month is our “CEO Profile,” where Managing Editor Jennifer McLawhorn interviews L.B. Foster’s John Kasel, who began his career with Burlington Northern before joining L.B. Foster in 2002. John also discusses L.B. Foster’s use of LEAN manufacturing methodology.

Our WRI feature this month focuses on Smart Rocks aiding in determining the quality of ballast tamping and improving the overall process. This article is based on a presentation made at the 2023 Wheel/Rail Interaction Conference.
