HART Delivers First Segment of Rail System to City of Honolulu

HONOLULU – HART finishes construction and delivers first segment of its rail project to the city of Honolulu.

On June 2nd, RT&S reported that the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation would be delivering its first segment of its rail project to the city on June 9th. This initial segment, which “consists of 10.75 miles of rail guideway and nine rail stations from East Kapolei to Aloha Stadium,” will be open to the public June 30th at 2pm.

Aside from the initial segment, HART also “transferred to DTS 12 four-car trains and the 43-acre Rail Operations Center and Maintenance and Storage Facility. DTS is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the transferred assets.”

The Executive Director and CEO of HART, Lori Kahikina, P.E., commented on the segment that “All required operational and safety testing and related certifications have been completed and the system is safe and reliable.”
