CHICAGO – The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will announce concepts for area under new Red Line tracks in Edgewater during public meetings.

On May 22nd and 23rdCTA will present preliminary designs for the area between Lawrence and Bryn Mawr stations under the Red and Purple Line tracks. Since the CTA has removed a 100-year-old embankment as part of its Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) Phase One Project, it has created “a unique opportunity to provide the Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods” with an open space.

The CTA partnered with the architecture firm, Site Design Group to develop a block-by-block plan for the area. Earlier this year, the first set of public meetings were held to solicit feedback. Now, both the CTA and Site Design Group will present their preliminary designs and concepts during the meetings in May.

For the blocks between W Foster and W Ardmore:

  • May 22nd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Saint Ita Catholic Church at 5500 N. Broadway
  • Those interested can register here.

For the blocks between W Lawrence and W Foster:

  • May 23rd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Truman College at 1145 W. Wilson Ave.
  • Those interested can register here.

The third series of public meetings are anticipated to occur in late summer 2024 where the CTA and Site Design will share final designs and a proposed framework.
