David A. Boaté, P.E., has joined Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm. Based in the firm's New York City office, Boaté serves as vice president and director of transit and rail for the Northeast Region, responsible for the daily operational management, business development, strategic growth, and profitability of the firm in the transit and rail industries.

With more than 25 years of engineering and leadership experience, Boaté is accomplished in the planning, design, and management of rail and mass transportation projects and business initiatives. Prior to joining Gannett Fleming, Boaté worked as the director of major capital transit projects for VHB, an engineering consulting firm based in Newtown, Mass., where he served as the firm's project manager for the engineering and design of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Green Line Extension. Boaté previously served as a vice president for AECOM.

Boaté is an active member in the American Public Transportation Association and is a graduate of Leadership APTA's 2008-2009 class. Also, he is a member of the Transportation Research Board's (TRB) Rail Transit Infrastructure Committee AR 055, the American Society of Civil Engineers, Women's Transportation Seminar, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. A registered professional engineer in multiple states, Boaté holds a bachelor of science in urban and environmental engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is a resident of East Windsor, N.J.
