Caltrain to discontinue paper monthly passes

February is the last month the paper monthly pass will be available for Caltrain. Beginning with the March pass, Caltrain monthly passes will be available only on ClipperSM, the regional fare card. Paper one-way tickets, day passes and zone upgrade tickets will continue to be sold at Caltrain ticket vending machines. Paper 8-ride tickets sales concluded Jan. 31. Since 8-ride tickets are valid for 60 days from the date of purchase, they will be in circulation until April 1. Clipper is now fully operational on Caltrain, as well as on five other Bay Area transit systems - AC Transit, BART, Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, Muni and SamTrans. The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority will begin accepting Clipper Feb. 16.
