Union Pacific has posted an invitation to bid for work on the CREATE B2 Project. Work includes track roadbed, drainage, bridge and retaining wall construction to add a railroad flyover connection between the Union Pacific line and Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad near Proviso Yard in the near west suburbs of Chicago..

Interested contractors will be required to complete a Construction Prequalification Form. The UP Construction Prequalification Form must be completed and submitted online by August 18, 2010 at the following website: UP Precertification. A pre-bid meeting will be held August 26, 2010.

This is first of two UP bid packages for B2 project, roughly the eastern half. The second half also involves grading and structures to the west and should go out to bid later this year.

Funding for the project come from a TIGER 1 grant.
