Holland is proud to celebrate 50 years of providing mobile flash-butt welding services and equipment around the world.
Holland’s mobile flash-butt welding services were unveiled to the rail industry in the March 1972 issue of Railway Track and Structures magazine. FWX 101 was the first self-propelled railcar with a portable electric flash-butt welding machine in North America. Throughout the years, Holland improved its MobileWelder® design and flash-butt welding equipment to provide industry-leading efficiency and accuracy. Today, Holland’s fleet consists of roughly 200 MobileWelders® across North America and Australia, flash-butt welding equipment operating in over 36 countries.
“Holland’s flash-butt welding technology is unparalleled throughout the rail industry. Celebrating 50 years shows how committed Holland has been to providing our customers with high-quality welding services that keep their railways moving,” said Russ Gehl, Holland’s Executive Vice President of Business Development.
While Holland is most widely known for its traditional MobileWelder, the fleet consists of various configurations for turnout welding, unique transit settings and facilities with crane rail. At the heart of Holland’s mobile welding services is the Intelliweld Control System, which provides real-time weld monitoring, control, and diagnostics. This technology ensures maximum quality and uptime.
Shane Mayhill, General Manager of Welding Technology, added, “Over the years, our welding technology has evolved tremendously, and I attribute that to our people. We’ve listened to our customers throughout our history to provide technology that’s proven to not only work but exceed their expectations.”
