Egis Tapped as Independent Engineer for MTA’s Purple Line LRT

BETHESDA, Md. - Egis will serve as Independent Engineer for MTA's Purple Line LRT in Maryland.
According to the release, Egis, a global engineering and operating firm, will act as a “reviewer for the Concessionaire (Purple Line Transit Partners) and the owner (Maryland Department of Transportation/Maryland Transit Administration.” Egis will go over technical submissions and drawings as well as perform on-site inspections. The contract is 4 years and will be delivered “by a dedicated team comprising LRT and P3 experts from the U.S., Canada, and Europe.” The Purple Line is a 16-mile light rail line that will connect Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties.
Previously, Egis has worked on technical rail projects in the U.S. that include asset condition assessment of rolling stock for Amtrak and implementing a fully automatic train control system on two metro lines in New York. Currently, Egis is supporting delivery of the California High-Speed Rail program.
