Michael Baker International Taps Shara Castillo as VP and Integrated Design and Advisory – Architecture Design Principal

PITTSBURGH - Michael Baker International, an engineering and consulting firm, announced that Shara Castillo, RA, AIA, has stepped into the role of Vice President and Architecture Design Principal within the Integrated Design and Advisory business vertical.

This reportedly includes the firm’s “Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Structural Engineering and Fire Protection Engineering, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Commissioning, Cost Management and Planning Services.” Castillo will work with those across markets and locations to provide architecture design leadership. She will also work to further Michael Baker’s engagement in the industry and expand its presence “in federal, aviation, transit and public sector projects.”

Castillo brings with her more than two decades of experience working with large and complex architecture projects across a variety of fields including technology, healthcare, industrial, and manufacturing and institutional markets. Previously, she worked at Tesla, Inc. where she was Head of Architecture and Permitting. In this role, she “directed over 11 million square feet of infrastructure projects” and worked with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and product development. Castillo has also worked as an Architect and Principal for the architecture firm Zimmer Gunsul Frasca (ZGF) for 15 years.
