STOCKTON, Calif. - San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission (SJRRC) announced its Spring 2025 Cohort of the Rail Academy of Central California (TRACC) has graduated.

The cohort will graduate in a ceremony on Sunday, July 27 at 4:00 p.m. at the ACE Rail Maintenance Facility. SJRRC states the graduation marks a “significant milestone” in advancing the development of the rail workforce. 17 students completed the curriculum and training program that prepares them “for high-demand careers in rail operations, maintenance, and related transportation fields.”

TRACC was founded in 2021 and was created for the purpose of educating and training individuals to meet an “increasing demand for a skilled, homegrown rail workforce.” Since the first cohort in 2024, 23 students have graduated from TRACC. Six of those are already employed in the industry. SJRRC states TRACC’s model is career-focused and “connects students with hands-on instruction, mentorship, and direct job placement opportunities in transportation and operations fields.”

SJRRC Director of Rail Services Tamika Smith said, “We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of this dedicated group of graduates, who represent the next generation of California’s rail professionals. . . TRACC is a powerful example of how regional collaboration and forward-thinking workforce strategies can create real, lasting opportunities for our community.”

Congressman Josh Harder, SJRRC Chair and Lodi City Councilwoman Lisa Craig-Hensley, and SJRRC Board Member and Mayor Christina Fugazi will attend the July 27 ceremony.
