Metra’s Beverly Branch Temporarily Suspended Starting August 22

Metra and its freight railroad and municipal partners are taking on a wide variety of projects in 2025, including improvements to 52 stations and replacement of 43 grade crossings.

CHICAGO - Metra will shut down the Beverly Branch of its Rock Island Line from August 22 to 24 to allow crews to replace the Morgan Street Bridge. Service will return August 25.

According to Metra, outbound Train 631 and inbound Train 632 will be the last two trains to serve the Beverly Branch stations before the shutdown on the evening of Friday, August 22. Service will resume Monday morning on August 25 with Train 600. During the closure, crews will work on the replacement of the steel and timber bridge. Morgan Street Bridge dates back to 1973 and is located near 89th Street.
