SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) will begin maintenance projects on its TRAX Red and Blue lines through September and October.

According to the announcement, this maintenance will occur on improving the light rail system by replacing hardware for TRAX. Some of said hardware has been in use for 25 years. By replacing the hardware and completing other necessary maintenance, this ensures the life of the equipment is extended and ride quality and safety are improved.

To reduce service disruptions for its passengers, UTA says the projects are “sequenced.” From September 10 through 17, crews will work on 9000 South grade crossing maintenance with service resuming on September 18. From October 6 to 9, crews will focus on the Central Avenue grade crossing. Service will resume October 10. Additional information for riders regarding alternative transportation can be found at UTA’s website linked here.
