BALTIMORE - The MDOT MTA released the September 2025 Purple Line newsletter. It includes construction updates, a business spotlight, and an interview with a systems oversight engineer.
The newsletter (below) details the updates made on the Purple Line progress in Baltimore. According to the newsletter, the dynamic testing process was expanded as the first Light Rail Vehicle, or LRV, traversed Annapolis Road from the Glenridge Operations and Maintenance Facility. Additionally, crews have finished laying embedded track, and the Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street intersection in Silver Spring has reopened.
The month of September marks the beginning of the “15th round of Community Advisory Team (CAT) Meetings,” according to the newsletter. These serve as a way to launch “a series of dynamic, community-focused presentations.” The first of which will be on September 29 for the Glenridge/Riverdale Park/New Carrollton area.
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY
In Prince George’s county, crews have completed an overnight testing operation of a Purple Line LRV, as mentioned previously. Crews also installed tracks at Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale and added elevator towers, railings, lights, at the Riverdale Park-Kenilworth Station.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY
Crews worked to align rails to prepare for track installation. On September 8, the Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street intersection reopened. At the eastern end of the Bethesda Enclosed Trinway, crews are installing tracks. At the Sligo Creek Bridge on Wayne Avenue, crews are working on the south side. The north side of the bridge is complete, according to MDOT MTA.
