Alstom Announces 120 New Jobs in NY Plant

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. –– Alstom announced this week that it needs to fill nearly 120 positions at its train manufacturing site in Plattsburgh, N.Y. The company is preparing to produce 374 state-of-the-art commuter rail cars for NJ TRANSIT, and needs to beef up its workforce to do so.

The Manufacturer reports that Alstom will hold a job fair at it’s Plattsburgh, N.Y. facility (71 Wall Street) on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The company is seeking “skilled, experienced job-seekers in assembly, crane operations, welding, and industrial painting.” The company encourages people with these skills to attend. The annoucement adds that “All positions are full-time and include generous benefits, including health insurance, generous 401(k) contributions, and paid time off.”

Before attending the event, applicants should register at this link. “Managers will interview candidates and expect to make some conditional job offers as soon as that day.”

The recruiting announcement says that Alstom employs more than 86,000 people around the world, including approximately 350 in Plattsburgh. The company has been identified as one of the “World’s Best Employers” by Forbes magazine. The Alstom Plattsburgh facility has supported the Adirondack economy for 30 years, since 1995, and is where 4,000 New York Subway cars, 1,000 San Francisco BART cars, and hundreds of cars for the Chicago, Maryland and New Jersey transit operations.
