DALLAS - The San Diego Association of Governments selected Jacobs to manage construction of the San Dieguito Lagoon Double Track and Special Events Platform project.
According to the release, by investing in this project, both capacity and reliability along the LOSSAN Corridor will be enhanced. Over the course of the project, Jacobs will manage the delivery of 2.1 miles of track improvements. This includes a double track that will remove a bottleneck between Solana Beach and Del Mar fairgrounds, improving access during busier times.
As part of the project, the San Dieguito Lagoon bridge will be replaced. The wooden trestle bridge is more than a century old, and a replacement will allow for better climate resiliency. Additionally, there will be enhancements to drainage systems, signals, communications, and turnouts.
Jacobs Executive Vice President Eva Wood said “This investment strengthens the only rail connection between San Diego and the rest of Southern California. With added track and a new platform, we’re enabling more reliable service, reducing delays, and supporting a cleaner, more connected future for the region.”
