CHICAGO - HNTB names Anne Sheahan Illinois office leader and Vice President.
Anne Sheahan joined HNTB in 2021 and has worked to strengthen the firm’s relationships with both public agencies and stakeholders across the area, including Chicago Department of Transportation and Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), says HNTB. During her tenure, she has worked to instill strategic leadership on major transportation programs and worked on business development efforts to address evolving infrastructure needs. Currently, Sheahan is vice chair of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. In her new role as Illinois office leader and vice president, she will work to oversee operations, strategic growth and client service for the office and will continue to support infrastructure initiatives throughout Illinois.
Sheahan said, “Transportation infrastructure plays a vital role in connecting communities and supporting economic opportunity. . . I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead our Illinois office and work alongside our employee owners and clients as we deliver projects and programs that improve mobility and invigorate communities throughout the state.”
Prior to her time at HNTB, Sheahan worked in public service, earning leadership experience for more than twenty years in the Chicago area. At the City of Chicago, Sheahan served as first deputy chief of staff for the City of Chicago. In this role, she led strategic initiatives involving infrastructure, regulatory services, and transportation. At the City of Chicago, she also worked as deputy mayor for infrastructure and services, deputy chief operating officer, managing deputy director of dispatch operations for the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, and chief of staff for the Department of Streets and Sanitation.
HNTB’s president of the Great Lakes Division Eric Morris P.E. said, “Anne is a respected leader who brings a deep understanding of transportation, public policy and infrastructure investment. . . Her ability to build strong relationships, develop teams and support clients in advancing complex infrastructure programs has made a valuable impact on our Illinois practice. We look forward to her continued leadership in this role.”
Sheahan holds a BA in communications and American politics from St. Norbert College and a MA in urban affairs from Loyola University Chicago.
