BNSF Worker Suffers Major Injury in Derailment

DENVER -- A BNSF employee suffered a major injury in a yard derailment this week.
The Denver Fire Department reported that a BNSF worker received serious injury this week at the BNSF Globemaster Yard in Denver. The ABC News affiliate in Denver, Denver7, reported that it learned from the fire department that a car had derailed in the yard, pinned the worker under it and first responders worked to free him.
The news station also reported that the worker “was rushed to surgery and have to have his right leg amputated. This information was reported to the station by Carl Smith, who is with the Sheet Metal Air Rail and Transportation (SMART) Workers Union.
