MONTREAL - CN worked with Grenada Railroad after the short line encountered an operational challenge on a bridge.
On December 19, 2023, Grenada Railroad (GRYR) identified a track deviation on a bridge. The bridge had to subsequently be removed from service, and “an immediate solution was needed to ensure no interruptions in service for the customers.” According to the report, CN worked with Grenada and supported a reroute agreement quickly to allow for uninterrupted service for Grenada’s customers. A temporary measure was put into place for 30 days while the bridge was repaired.
GRYR is owned by Pinsly Railroad Company and operates a 228-mile corridor from Canton, MS to Memphis, TN. It connects to CN and “offers daily interchanges and exceptional connectivity.”
“Just before Christmas in 2023, we reached out to our partners at CN and asked for help. Within hours, we quickly reached an accord and began rerouting traffic. This gave us the breathing room to make the correct repairs to the bridge and our customers did not miss a beat. This is just one example of how CN behaves like a partner; mobilizing quickly to ensure that we kept our customers freight moving,” said Pinsly Railroad Company President & CEO, Ryan Ratledge.
Chief Commercial Officer for Pinsley Railroad Company, Cassie Dull said, “CN has proven to be an exceptional partner for Grenada Railroad. When a critical issue arose, CN’s swift action and strong collaboration ensured seamless support and uninterrupted service for our customers. The ongoing engagement between our companies has built a level of trust and collaboration that was key to this success.”
