Kevin Hicks, PE, vice president at TranSystems Corp., is the latest addition to the National Railroad Construction & Maintenance Association (NRC) Board of Directors.

“The NRC is thrilled to welcome Kevin Hicks to the Board of Directors,” NRC Chairman Mike Choat said in a statement. “Kevin brings over 25 years of railroading experience to our board. He will be a fantastic addition, both personally and also as a representative of TranSystems.”

Hicks is a civil engineering graduate of the University of Missouri – Rolla. In a statement, the NRC said Hicks has spent the entirety of his professional career in the freight railroad industry, including 25 years at Union Pacific (UP).

While at UP, Hicks began as a management trainee, later holding various roles with the organization, including manager of Field Engineering, manager of Track Maintenance, director of Track Maintenance and more.

The NRC said the various roles Hicks worked in while at UP enabled him to form relationships with individuals throughout the railroad industry.

Hicks left UP in 2019 and began engineering consulting work as a freight business leader at TranSystems, which provides engineering and architectural planning, design and construction services to railroads.

“I am honored to join the NRC Board and I believe the work that the NRC does has always been and continues to be important to the success of all contractors, engineering firms and suppliers in our railway industry,” Hicks said. “I look forward to bringing my perspective and experience to this great board.”

In January of 2018, RT&S reported that the NRC had added two new members to the NRC board: George Caric, vice president of marketing at Stella-Jones Corporation, and Dave Landreth, vice president and general manager for Kiewit Infrastructure West Co.
